BANGKOK: The southern province of Satun is grappling with severe flooding in five districts and three of them – Khuan Don, Tha Pae, and Muang – have been declared disaster zones.
Heavy rainfall has caused rivers to overflow, inundating villages and communities.
The situation in La-ngu district is particularly dire, with water levels rising rapidly due to the overflowing Lam Lon Canal.
The 5th Battalion of the 2nd Infantry Regiment has deployed troops to assist flood victims in the affected areas, particularly in Nam Phut and La-ngu, the two other severely affected districts.
Soldiers are helping to evacuate residents from flooded homes and monitor water levels.
Local police officers in Chalung district have also stepped up their efforts to support the community.
They have donated food and supplies to flood victims, including children who are unable to leave their homes.
As the rainy season continues, there are concerns that the flood situation may worsen.
Authorities are closely monitoring the weather and water levels, and are urging residents to stay informed and take necessary precautions. - The Nation/ANN
