TAMIL music superstar GV Prakash promised Malaysian fans a show they will never forget and that he and his team did just that for music lovers at the 'Celebration of Life' concert at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Saturday night (Dec 8).
In fact, Tamil music fans couldn’t have asked for a better end to 2024 as GV Prakash’s first-ever international concert rocked venue delivering a sensational showcase of musical versatility together with his impressive team of singers and top musicians.
And Malaysian hip hop legend Yogi B and rising star Arulini also made a nightto remember with soulful performances and has the Malaysian fans cheering for more when they were on the stage.
The moment, GV Prakash stepped on stage with the song from 'Veyil' - the movie that gave him the Kollywood breakthrough - fans were delirious and they were just delighted with brilliant songs and performances, one after another from the word go.
From soulful melodies and heart-thumping rock to rap anthems and Tamil folk classics, the concert was a masterclass in genre-spanning performances that thrilled the 13,000-strong crowd.
The celebrated Indian composer, singer, and actor poured his heart into every note, choosing Malaysia for his debut international concert as a heartfelt tributeto his loyal fanbase.
From the moment GV Prakash clad in a black and gold hussar jacket entered the stadium as his iconic background score for 'Aayirathil Oruvan' (2010) played, the crowd erupted, setting the stage for a night filled with nostalgia, energy, and emotion.
The concert started with singers Tippu, Haricharan and Anthony Daasan performing the first song that GV Prakash composed in his career, 'Veyilodu Veliyadi', from 'Veyil' (2006).
Prominent singer Saindhavi also joined him on stage to render several melodies, including 'Pirai Thedum' from 'Mayakam Enna' (2011), 'Pookal Pookum' from 'Madrasapattinam' (2010) and 'Ellu Vaya Pookalaye' from 'Asuran' (2019).
He kept fans on their feet throughout the night with powerful renditions of hits like his superfamous number 'Yathe Yathe' and also 'Kaadhal En Kaadhal', and crowd favourites from hit movies 'Raja Rani and Thandavam'.
One of the night’s most emotional highlights was a tribute to the late legendary playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam (SPB). GV Prakash and his team performed 'Ayyayo' as a heartfelt nod to the music maestro, sharing personal stories from their time working together.
Local hip-hop icon Yogi B brought extra firepower to the concert, wowing fans with explosive performances of 'Engaeyum Eppothum' and 'Warriors' from Aadukalam.
His commanding stage presence and powerful delivery added a thrilling edge, making him one of the night’s biggest star performer.
Rising local star Arulini Ashwiinaa added a unique Malaysian flavour with her powerhouse vocals.
