Vietnam's retail sales, service revenues up 8.8% in 11 months


HANOI: Vietnam's total goods retail sales and consumer service revenues increased by 8.8 per cent year on year in the first 11 months of this year to more than 5.8 quadrillion Vietnamese dong (US$228.5 billion), according to the latest statistics of the country's General Statistics Office.

During the cited period, the restaurant and accommodation revenues increased 13 per cent, and tourism revenues surged 17.3 per cent compared to the same period last year, according to the office.

Specifically, Vietnam's goods retail sales stood at nearly 2.5 quadrillion dong ($98.5 billion), up 8.1 per cent, with the sales of food and foodstuff growing by 10.8 per cent, those of household equipment rising by 5.9 per cent, and those of clothing going up by 8.1 per cent.

In November alone, the revenue from retail sales of consumer goods and services totaled 562 trillion dong ($22.1 billion), an increase of 8.3 per cent year on year thanks to the major contribution of the food, accommodation and tourism sector, said the office.- Xinhua
