Indonesian govt prepares cybersecurity system to support digital transformation

JAKARTA (Bernama-ANTARA): The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs is preparing a cybersecurity system to support the implementation of digital transformation in Indonesia, reported ANTARA news agency.

In the ministry's statement here on Saturday, Communication and Digital Affairs Minister Meutya Hafid underlined that cybersecurity is the main foundation for ensuring the sustainability of digital transformation in the country.

"Cybersecurity is key to protecting our strategic infrastructure. We are currently developing the National Digital Firewall and pushing for the formation of CSIRT (Computer Security Incident Response Team) in every government institution to mitigate cyber threats," she remarked.

To support digital transformation, the ministry will also carry out training and certification programmes to prepare digital talents per the needs of industries.

"The programmes do not only cover certification but also bolster relations between participants and the professional world, ensuring a real impact on the community," she said.

The minister noted that digital literacy improvement programmes have reached more than 5.6 million people, and the participants include women and the youth.

To accelerate digital transformation in the country, one of the steps taken by the government is realising equal access to the internet by providing Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) in areas not covered by fibre optic networks, she said.

"FWA is the right solution to present high-speed and affordable internet, especially in remote areas that do not yet have a stable connection," she added.

She emphasised that digital transformation aims to create an inclusive, trusted, and empowering digital ecosystem.

In this regard, she called for the collaboration of all stakeholders to realise digital transformation that is safe, fair, and provides tangible benefits to the community. - Bernama-ANTARA
