FBM KLCI rebound picks up speed


KUALA LUMPUR: The FBM KLCI bounced back strongly, regaining more than half the losses made in the previous day's sell-off.

At 12.30pm, the key index was up 8.46 points to 1,630.53 while the broader market was underpinned by 630 gainers compared to 375 decliners.

The share turnover was 2.53 billion changing hands for RM1.66bil.

All but one of the market sectors piled on gains, with the most increase seen in financial services, property and utilities.

Leading the blue chips, Sunway rose 16 sen to RM4.28, PETRONAS Dagangan climbed 18 sen to RM17.02 and SD Guthrie gained seven sen to RM4.54.

Meanwhile, making its debut on the Main Market, Well Chip surged 56 sen to RM1.71.

Velesto gained 0.5 sen to 23.5 sen and Velocity gained one sen to 6.5 sen.

In regional markets, markets were mixed with China's composite index down 0.59% to 2,946 and Japan's Nikkei slipping 0.04% to 39,589.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng dipped 0.1% to 17,620.

Singapore's Straits Times rose 0.49% to 3,453.
