Malaysian filmmaker Datuk Yusof Haslam is not expecting actress Puteri Sarah Liyana to return to his estranged son Syamsul Yusof.
In an interview with mStar, The Star’s Malay-language news portal, Yusof said he is in no position to comment on their life and can only pray for the best.
“I can’t say I want Puteri Sarah to return to him or vice versa. They are the ones who get to decide how to live their lives. It’s none of my business,” the 70-year-old said.
Yusof also revealed that his former daughter-in-law was shocked by the news of Syamsul, 40, divorcing actress Ira Kazar after less than two years of marriage.
He added that he met Puteri Sarah recently, and she advised him to pray for Syamsul.
“Puteri Sarah stopped by my house for a while, and we chatted.
“She was also shocked by the news and never expected it to happen. However, she advised me to be accepting and pray for the best for Syamsul,” he said.
During the interview, Yusof also rubbished talks of him and his wife, Datin Patimah Ismail, being happy about the news of their son’s failed marriage to Ira.
“My wife has been quiet. Don’t assume the both of us are happy with the news.
“We accept what happened. Don’t misunderstand... I have no intention of celebrating this news,” he said.
Yusof also shared that he won’t comment further on the matter as he didn’t want to hurt any parties, adding: “Let them settle this properly. Whatever it is, I will pray for the best for them.”
