Rare orchid wins top spot in competition

IT WAS neither colourful nor fragrant, nor did it resemble a flower but that did not stop bulbophyllum orthosepalum from beating 258 plants to emerge as champion of the Floria Diraja Putrajaya 2022 orchid competition.

Owned by Sin Wah Chan, 66, an orchid farmer in Cameron Highlands, Pahang, the 10-year-old orchid was given to him by a friend while it was still a tiny cutting.
