Families with special kids get aid from Selangor govt

THIRTY-FIVE families with special needs children received financial aid under the Anak Istimewa Selangor (Anis) programme.

State public health, unity, women empowerment and family committee chairman Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud presented the aid during a ceremony at Bangunan SSAAS, Shah Alam.

Also present was Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor (Yawas) general manager Gan Pei Nei.

“A total of RM1mil was allocated this year for the Anis programme, which aims to help parents and guardians of special children in Selangor to cover the cost of their education, therapy, equipment and medicines,” Dr Siti Mariah said in a statement.

“As of December, RM605,750 was allocated to 303 recipients under the education category while RM151,020 went to 69 recipients in the equipment category.”

In her speech at the event, Dr Siti Mariah said the programme had benefitted more than 1,500 people from 2018 to 2022.

The Seri Serdang assemblyman added that the various types of assistance provided in the programme would be coordinated under the state government’s latest initiative, the Selangor Special Children’s Card (Kad Anis).
