Theme parks recognised as sought-after destinations in Asia Pacific

SUNWAY Theme Parks have secured coveted positions in the Global Attraction Index 2022 by Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) and AECOM.

This index annually ranks the most visited and celebrated destinations, shedding light on the tourism landscape in different regions.

Sunway Lagoon claimed fifth place, while Sunway Lost World of Tambun came in at 10th – recognising Sunway Theme Parks as one of Asia Pacific’s most sought-after amusement destinations.

Being the only theme parks in Malaysia to be listed in TEA/AECOM’s 2022 index, demonstrates Sunway Theme Parks’ ability to adapt to the ever-changing market conditions and global crises such as Covid-19.

Sunway Theme Parks said in a press statement that this recognition was also testament to their dedication to continuously improve and enhance their offerings to meet the evolving expectations of modern-day travellers.

The theme parks also showcased their commitment to providing visitors with adventures outside their grounds.

The Sunway Theme Parks Mega Roadshow 2022 was a highlight, supported by Tourism Malaysia and the partnership of 50 authorised travel agents, corporate partners and Sunway Group’s business units.

The launch of Explorer Rangers also demonstrated the theme park’s commitment to its sustainability goals (SDGs).

The programme gathered children under the age of 12 in a weekly in-situ educational wildlife class by the Education Ministry.

They learnt about animals from wildlife parks in both Sunway Lagoon and Sunway Lost World of Tambun, as well as sustainable efforts by the Sunway Group.

Sunway Lagoon also collaborated with Malaysia’s largest dairy manufacturer, Farm Fresh, to debut the Wow Wild West and a themed Night Park, encouraging visitors to partake in a host of activities centred around edutainment.

Part of the park’s #BestDayEver deals also include “Camp Out!” – a staycation package where visitors can have cool campsite experiences in the park’s sprawling grounds for a jam-packed 24 hours of fun activities.

In Sunway Lost World of Tambun, Malaysians were able to witness a now viral, first-of-its-kind traditional Malay wedding between Jiwang and Juwita – the park’s hippopotamuses.

A year later, a “Majlis Berendoi” or traditional “haircut” ceremony was performed for the couple’s offspring, Jaguh.

Sunway Theme Parks also launched STP Studios – an in-house video and creative studio that has increased brand awareness and engagement.
