SARAWAK enforcement agencies should conduct integrated operations more often and not only during the festive season, said state secretary Datuk Ahmad Nadzri Mohd Hassan.
He said this was to ensure that enforcement tasks were carried out more comprehensively and effectively.
Ahmad said that through an integrated operation, agencies could detect various types of offences at the same time and take action according to the law under their respective jurisdictions.
“For example, the Road Transport Department (JPJ) can take action on offences involving vehicles and drivers’ licences while the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) can take action on the misuse of prohibited goods.
“Meanwhile, the Immigration Department can tackle offences like foreigners being in the country without valid documents,” he said.
Ahmad was speaking to reporters while inspecting the Integrated Compliance Operation taking place in Jalan Oya, Sibu.
It was conducted by JPJ along with the Immigration Department, AADK and the Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department.
During the operation, JPJ issued 83 notices for various offences such as not having a motor vehicle licence, expired driving licence and registration numbers not following specifications.
The Immigration Department arrested three foreigners, a man and two women who were found to have committed an offence under Section 15(1)(c) and Section 6(1) (c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 (Act 155) while AADK Sibu recorded three cases of local men who tested positive for shabu.
Also taking part in the integrated operation were Sarawak JPJ director Norizan Jili, state Immigration Department director Abang Halim Abang Naili and state AADK director Abdul Hamediee Ibrahim.
