THE Happy, Love, Care Charity (HLCC) Group brought an early Chinese New Year celebration to the Spastic Children’s Association of Selangor and Federal Territory (SCAS&FT).
This marks the eighth consecutive year HLCC Group has organised a CNY event at the association’s premises.
The association also received RM45,000 from HLCC Group and Always oN photography studio during the event held at the SCAS&FT premises in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
HLCC Group member Carrie Lee, who is an actress, made an additional donation of RM5,000, enabling the association to reach its fundraising target of RM50,000.
SCAS&FT board member Datuk Jerry Ching said dealing with the needs of children with cerebral palsy was challenging.
“Fundraising events such as these can play a role in spreading public awareness and making things better for the children.”
Ching said Chinese New Year symbolised fresh beginnings and opportunities, and their commitment was to cultivate an environment brimming with hope and positive energy for these children.
He also underscored the need to not only raise funds to meet ongoing treatment costs for the patients but also highlight education as the association’s paramount focus.
“Our aim is to ensure that children from disadvantaged backgrounds receive equal educational opportunities.
“Only through this can they seamlessly integrate into society and become self-reliant,” he added.
The pre-CNY visit included guided tours for the HLCC Group members, volunteers and the public to witness the children’s experience in the classroom, giving the visitors a glimpse into their daily lives.
The event also featured lion and dragon dance performances and a magic show by Hassan The Miracle Magic Entertainers.
Some of the children also showcased their talents by entertaining guests with a percussion performance.
Guests and children took part in a yee sang toss for a prosperous year ahead.
Also present were SCAS&FT president Datuk Hong Yee Keong, as well as Always oN founders Amanda Tan, Victoria Lim and Kenneth Lee.
