SEVERAL plots of vacant land in Taman Tiara Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur, have been utilised to store used and damaged cars, much to the dismay of the residents.

This is despite the area being gazetted for residential use in the Kuala Lumpur City Plan 2020 and draft Kuala Lumpur City Plan 2040.

The problem began two months ago after lots, belonging to individuals, in Jalan Tiara Titiwangsa 2, 5, 11 and 12 were getting cleared.

Residents’ association committee member Sylvester Navaratnam claimed that the lots used as stores were being rented out by the individual land owners.

“We have approached the lot owners with our grievances but they were adamant that they have the right to rent out their land.

“We have spoken to the operators, too, but they ignored our complaints,” he added.

Checks by StarMetro found the sites cordoned off with zinc and piles of rubbish amid overgrowth.

At one lot, there were stray dogs keeping people away, in addition to several damaged cars nearby.

There was also a trailer parked at the roadside.

Another resident who only wanted to be known as Zul said the premises were an eyesore.

“We are worried that if action is not taken soon, more of such operations will be set up,” he added.

Sylvester said several residents had filed complaints via Kuala Lumpur City Hall’s (DBKL) ADU@KL online complaint portal.

He said a letter had been sent to Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa, Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Seri Kamarulzaman Mat Salleh and Setiawangsa MP Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.

DBKL had yet to comment at press time.
