A BRIGHT peacock-themed archway greets shoppers at the entrance of Bukit Jambul Complex (KBJ) in Bayan Lepas, Penang, to mark Deepavali celebrations at the mall.
Inside, decorations in myriad colours and sizes create a festive feel.
The mall’s visitors will also be greeted by the sight of a vibrant rangoli, symbolising the colours of happiness, success and health.
Rangoli, which means “an array of colours” in Sanskrit, is a traditional Indian art form where patterns are created from coloured rice flour on a flat surface, such as the floor.
A rangoli lighting-up ceremony held to kick off the mall’s Deepavali celebration was led by Batu Uban assemblyman A. Kumaresan, KBJ chairman Datuk KH Chan, general manager Crystal Wong and KBJ’s joint management body committee members Lok Chin Lum and Khaw You Yee.
KBJ senior public relations executive Aswirna Sukur said shoppers could immerse themselves in joyful activities tailored for the whole family at the complex.
“There is a wide assortment of quality traditional and modern garments for men, women and the little ones.
“Indian garments such as saree, lehenga and kurta as well as foodstuff such as cookies and curry powders are available here for our customers to do their Deepavali shopping under one roof,” she said.
The complex also has a shopper reward programme, Wong said.
“This includes a monthly ‘spend and win’ lucky draw.
“Shoppers can participate in this campaign with a receipt of a minimum purchase of RM20 and above at any participating outlet.”
Visitors can also shop for festive items at attractive prices from KBJ’s anchor tenants Kamdar and Mydin as well as other shops.
For custom-made Deepavali attire, Asotha’s Fashion at Level Three offers tailoring services for festive clothing.
Stores on the third and fourth floors offer henna, hair, make-up as well as manicure and pedicure services.
More festive outfits or wardrobe upgrades can be found at the Summer Wing Concourse that is hosting a clearance sale of brands such as Exhaust Garment, British Polo, Milla, Green Point Club and Stefeno until Nov 3.
To spruce up the home, a variety of decorative items are available at KBJ’s MrDIY outlet.
