MBDK shuts down illegal car spray painting workshop

An unlicensed car spray painting workshop in Jalan Sungai Pinang, Klang, was shut down by Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) following complaints from nearby residents about noxious fumes and loud machinery.

MBDK Corporate Communications Department director Norfiza Mahfiz said the illegal workshop, which had been operating for several months, was ordered to close.

“We issued a notice to the owner to cease operations as the workshop was operating illegally and causing disturbance to residents.

“We also ordered the workshop owner to remove machinery in and around the premises,” she added.

Norfiza said the notice to cease operations was issued under the city council’s Licensing, Trade, Business and Industry (MPK) By-Laws 2007.

“We will monitor the site to ensure no illegal businesses operate here,” she said.

Meanwhile, Norfiza said seven premises running child care centres and old folks homes in Bandar Bukit Tinggi were found to be operating illegally.

“Our inspections last week found that one had not renewed its licence while the others were unlicensed.

“They were issued a compound of RM1,000 each under the Licensing, Trade, Business and Industry (MPK) By-Laws 2007,” she said. ― By EDWARD RAJENDRA
