KARAN, a Penan mother, travelled from her remote settlement in Ulu Baram with her baby and little children in tow to seek treatment at Miri Polyclinic. They waited since 5am. At 10am, there were still 100 other patients ahead of her.
She had more to bear – waiting in a cramped and stuffy room due to lack of air-conditioning.
