Biometric ruling trouble for used car dealers

PETALING JAYA: Second-hand car dealers are troubled by the recent Road Transport Department ruling requiring those involved in the transfer of vehicle ownership to give their biometric details.

Federation of Motor and Credit Companies Association of Malaysia president Datuk Tony Khor said dealers had hoped that they could utilise the Interim Ownership Transfer System (STMS), an online platform where vehicle owners can conduct an ownership transfer with car dealers without visiting JPJ offices.
