KUALA LUMPUR: Pahang Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail is expected to testify next month in an election petition filed by DAP candidate for Cameron Highlands M. Manogaran to nullify the election results for the seat.
Manogaran has named Cameron Highlands MP Datuk C. Sivarraajh as the sole respondent in the petition.
Sivarraajh's counsel Datuk Mohd Hafarizam Harun informed High Cout judge Justice Azizah Nawawi that he would call Wan Rosdy to give his evidence in the next proceedings on Oct 4.
In the petition filed on June 4, Manogaran claimed that Sivarraajh had campaigned with Wan Rosdy and given bribes of between RM30 and RM1,000 to the orang asli community via the village headmen (batin) to ensure that they would vote for the Barisan candidate in the five-cornered contest.
Earlier, orang asli villager Jali Gayang said Wan Rosdy, who is also Jelai assemblyman, gave RM200 to all orang asli headmen on April 30 and another RM300 on May 6 to cover their expenses for attending the two meetings.
Jali, 50, who is also Pos Sinderot Umno branch chief, said the RM200 was given in a meeting at SK Sinderot and the RM300 was given in a meeting at his house.
He, however, said he did not attend the meeting at SK Sinderot, but was informed by Batin Norman Kong on the contribution.
Another orang asli villager Achom Luji, 69, said he received RM25,000 contribution from Wan Rosdy to be handed over to all headmen as expenses for going out of their villages to cast their votes as the voting centres were far from their home.
The former Asyikfm radio station deejay said the contribution was given during a programme near to Pos Lenjang orang asli settlement.
