A MAN in China who went out to buy baby formula for his son was arrested for breaking Covid-19 movement restrictions, China Press reported.
The authorities later helped him get the milk that his son needed.
Earlier, the young father was seen in a video clip getting out of his car at a Covid-19 checkpoint in Hebei province and brandishing a knife.
“Do you know how desperate I am? I have waited a long time,” he said, explaining that his son needed the infant formula right then.
He then drove through the checkpoint without stopping to be checked.
A subsequent video showed the man being handcuffed and escorted to a police station by a dozen police officers.
A Baoding city police spokesperson confirmed the case on Nov 1, saying the man was arrested for endangering the lives of others.
However, the police took note of the extraordinary circumstances that resulted in his actions and decided to fine him a mere 100 yuan (RM64.96).
China’s zero-Covid policy has led to endless lockdowns, travel restrictions and PCR tests.
In many places, including Beijing, residents are required to undergo PCR tests every three days.
> Chinese Internet celebrity Grace Chow appears to have a new beau after she was seen kissing a man at a park in China, Sin Chew Daily reported.
Paparazzi filmed the couple holding hands and enjoying a stroll in the park.
Later, it was found out that the man was Chinese boy band member Duan Xingxing, who is 24 years old.
Duan, who is 10 years her junior, rose to fame after reaching the finals of the third season of the reality dance competition Youth With You. He later formed the band IXFORM with other finalists.
When the short video went viral, Chow posted a picture of a T-shirt with stars on it, which seemed to confirm the relationship.
“Do you know how heavy xing xing (stars) are?” she asked.
Fans of Chow noted that Duan resembled her ex-boyfriend Show Lo.
She broke up with Lo in 2020, accusing him of sleeping with other female artistes.
Lo has made several public apologies for his behaviour and made attempts to win her back to no avail.
