Not just one basket: Lorry carrying eggs overturns on NSE near Rembau

PETALING JAYA: A lorry carrying thousands of eggs had an accident along the North-South Expressway (NSE) near Rembau, spilling its fragile cargo on the road.

Malay daily Sinar Harian reported that the accident took place at 9am on Friday (Feb 20) morning, which caused a 5km traffic jam at KM242.6 of the NSE.

Rembau police chief DSP Hazri Mohamad said preliminary investigations showed that the accident happened after the lorry went out of control and crashed at the left side of the divider on the highway.

"The lorry overturned and eggs were scattered across the road.

"The 30-year old lorry driver suffered minor injuries and he was taken to Hospital Rembau for further treatment," Hazri was quoted as saying.

The traffic jam at the Rembau stretch of the NSE lasted for about two hours for clean-up work.
