PETALING JAYA: Age is not a barrier that could stop this teacher from teaching others.

Lim Meng Choo, 84, has been teaching the Hainanese dialect since 2002 at the Selangor & Federal Territory Hainan Association but the Covid-19 pandemic halted classes.

However, despite already being well into her golden years, the teacher took up classes to learn how to bring back her lessons via the digital format.

Starting in 2021, she restarted classes online.

According to MySin Chew, the English portal for Sin Chew Daily Malaysia, Lim had to redesign her materials to better suit the online format.

"We need to help the students master the dialect easily. The teaching materials prepared by me are based on the content and the level of the class," she said.

With her classes going online, she now has students from all over the country, including Sabah and Sarawak.

Classes are open to non-Hainanese as well and are split between beginner and intermediate classes.

Those interested can contact the Selangor & Federal Territory Hainan Association at 03-2274 7088.
