JOHOR BARU: A man’s hobby of collecting and restoring old motorcycles has now become the passion of his whole family.
Rosman Adenan, 53, said for almost 30 years, he had restored a total of 40 motorcycles that were made in the 70s and 80s.
The father of four said his collection included motorcycles that were hard to find and no longer in the market, such as Yamaha YB100, Yamaha Pasola, Suzuki FR80 and Honda Cub 70.
“During my younger days, I was a mechanic and the skills I learned have come in handy for me to repair old motorcycles and turn what people considered as scrap metal into brand new motorcycles,” he said yesterday.
Rosman said someone had offered RM20,000 to buy his Yamaha RXZ, but he declined it as he planned to pass his collection down to his children and grandchildren.
“No money can buy these motorcycles that I poured my time and energy into restoring,” he added.
Rosimah Nordin, 49, said her husband’s passion for old motorcycles had rubbed off on the family, especially their four children, aged between 13 and 26.
“Initially, I was annoyed with him for spending so much time on his motorcycles, but I later saw the passion in him.
“When I saw that he managed to change an old motorcycle into a beautiful one, it slowly changed me and now our whole family is into repairing old machines,” she said.
Rosimah added that sharing the same hobby and passion had brought them closer.
