KUANTAN: MCA is not getting involved in disputes that use racial and religious sentiments as weapons, says party vice-president Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker.
He said this was to ease the racial and religious tensions that were becoming more apparent and threatening the peace of the country.
“MCA does not agree with the use of unity simply to get votes and at the same time, persecute any party as an enemy.
“We are one Malaysian family and religious and ethnic polemics should be stopped immediately.
“The focus should be on nation-building rather than nation destruction.
“The economy, the value of the currency, the cost of living and so on are deteriorating and the people are being shackled more and more,” Ti said in a statement yesterday.
He blamed DAP for “incitement and propaganda” that caused the people to hate Umno, but ended up cooperating with Umno, while targeting PAS.
Ti said MCA believed that polarisation would continue and become more heated, especially when racial and religious sentiments were exploited to create hatred simply to garner votes in the six state elections.
