PETALING JAYA: Ten locations in Peninsular Malaysia recorded unhealty Air Pollutant Index (API) reading as at 9am Monday (Oct 9), says the Environment Department (DOE).
Data on the DOE's Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) website showed that Selangor had the most number of locations recording unhealthy API.
The locations are Banting with an API reading of 157, Klang (154), Shah Alam (153), Johan Setia (152), and Petaling Jaya (137).
The other locations with an API reading more than 100 are Batu Pahat in Johor with 107; Bukit Rambai, Melaka (153), Nilai, Negri Sembilan (152); Putrajaya (105); and Cheras in Kuala Lumpur (157).
Meanwhile, the APIMS website data showed that there were three locations in the country with good air quality with an API of less than 50.
These are Sibu (45) and Sri Aman (44) in Sarawak; Kimanis, Sabah (45); and Kota Baru, Kelantan (49).
An API reading of zero to 50 indicates that the air quality is good; 51-100, moderate; 101-200, unhealthy; 201-300, very unhealthy; and above 300, hazardous.
