Cops identify suspect in accountant’s killing

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are tracking down another suspect in connection with the murder of an accountant in Kampung Cheras Baru here.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid said police have identified the suspect responsible for the accountant’s death.

“The remand for two others who were previously detained will end. We will refer the matter to the deputy public prosecutor as soon as possible,” he told reporters after attending the KL police monthly assembly here yesterday.

On Dec 11, the body of a 28-year-old accountant was found naked and face down in Jalan Kuari, Kampung Cheras Baru, at 6am.

Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Zam Halim Jamaluddin said two men, friends of the victim, were detained to assist investigations.

Separately, Comm Allaudeen said police would record the statements of all parties, including the parents, friends and school administrators, in connection with the teenager who ran away from a hostel in Cheras, claiming he was bullied repeatedly.

The boy’s family lodged a police report on Tuesday.

“We have classified the case under Section 31 of the Child Act 2001, and it will be investigated by the CID’s Sexual, Women and Child Investigations Division (D11),” he added.

The 14-year-old was found in a weak state at a mosque in Bandar Run Razak on Dec 8 after he had gone missing for several hours.

He has been receiving treatment at a nearby hospital since Dec 9.
