M Kumar is Johor’s new police chief effective January, 2024


KUALA LUMPUR: Johor deputy police chief DCP M Kumar has been appointed as the Johor police chief with the rank of acting Commissioner of Police (CP) effective Jan 23, 2024.

Royal Malaysia Police secretary Alzafny Ahmad said the principal assistant director (administration/general policing) at the Integrity Division of the Integrity and Standards Compliance Department, Bukit Aman, SAC Afandi Senin, would fill the vacancy left by Kumar with the rank of acting DCP.

"Seremban District Police chief ACP Arifai Tarawe will fill the position vacated by Afandi, by assuming the rank of SAC," he said in a statement.

He said this was part of an exchange exercise involving 42 senior PDRM officers nationwide.

Also changing positions are Bukit Aman Management Department administrative CP Datuk Wan Hassan Wan Ahmad, who has been appointed Bukit Aman Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department director, and Kuala Lumpur PDRM College commandant Datuk Anuar Othman is appointed as the deputy director of management (administration), at the Management Department in Bukit Aman.

"Deputy Kedah Police chief Datuk Abu Samah Mohd Noor will fill the position of Kuala Lumpur PDRM College commandant, while Kedah Criminal Investigation Department head SAC Adzli Abu Shah will fill the vacancy left by Abu Samah with the rank of acting DCP," he said.

Meanwhile, Bukit Aman Special Branch E4 assistant director Datuk Zahib Sabari will take on the role of principal assistant director of the Bukit Aman Special Branch E4, with the rank of acting DCP. - Bernama
