Homemaker to showcase artistic skills

Timeless tales: Dayaben with her collection of paintings displayed at the Melaka Museum.

MELAKA: For some time now, a homemaker’s life was about taking care of her family.

But things changed incredibly when the 46-year-old got a once-in-a-lifetime chance to introduce her paintings at an exhibition at the Melaka Museum here.

Dayaben Ritesh Ramani said she was elated to be given a dedicated space to express her artistic skills after many years of waiting for an opportunity to do so.

“This is the moment that I have waited for and the organiser agreed to give me this opportunity after seeing my paintings. I am glad I can join other artists from diverse backgrounds and age groups to showcase our talents,” she said in an interview.

“I hope to shine in the global arena with this golden opportunity.”

Dayaben, who hails from Kampung Lapan here, said, “I am focused on producing simple works to depict the local environment and cultural heritage.”

She said she would like to preserve the cultural heritage by capturing the tales of the past and conveying them through her contemporary art.

The two-day exhibition was opened by Melaka deputy tourism, heritage, art and culture committee chairman Datuk Zaidi Attan on Saturday.
