Disabled ehailing driver called up by Bukit Aman to assist in disciplinary probe, says police

KUALA LUMPUR: The disabled ehailing driver, who claimed to have been assaulted by a member of a VIP's security escort, was called up by Bukit Aman to assist in a disciplinary probe.

Bukit Aman Integrity and Standard Compliance Department director Comm Datuk Seri Azry Ahmad said the victim went to the federal police headquarters at 11am on Wednesday (June 5), accompanied by his lawyers and an interpreter.

"We will scrutinise the case in terms of standard operating procedures, to check whether there is any infringement or wrongdoing by police personnel and officers in discharging their duties.

"The investigation is still in the early stages, and we will call up other witnesses to complete the investigation," he said in a statement on Wednesday.

The investigation will be conducted in a transparent manner and without compromise, he added.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain had previously said the police are conducting a thorough investigation in this matter and calling up all parties involved including the police officer involved in the incident.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa had said the police received a report from the disabled driver at 1pm on May 28.

Comm Rusdi said the victim then lodged a second police report at 9.59pm on the same day, claiming the matter had been resolved amicably and he did not want to prolong the case.

However, the victim then claimed that he was offered RM800 to settle the case.
