Responding swiftly, a team from the Kota Kinabalu Civil Defence Force (APM) successfully caught the hefty 50kg snake, which had been spotted lurking within the compound of the house on Sunday night.

Kota Kinabalu APM officer Capt Aizex Junior said they received a distress call from the homeowner at 7.14pm.

“The python was found in the cat enclosure on the back porch of the complainant’s house.

“It was caught by using special equipment within 40 minutes,” Capt Aizex said.

With the scaly intruder safely secured, the team transported the reticulated python to the Kota Kinabalu APM office before releasing it to a more suitable habitat.
