Melaka fire victim passes away


MELAKA: A woman in critical condition after being trapped in a burning four-storey building along Jalan Plaza Mahkota here last week has died at Hospital Melaka.

Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Christopher Patit said Azliha Ngah Ariffin, 40, from Pengkalan Pegoh in Lahat, Perak died at 12.44pm on Monday (July 15).

"An autopsy is being conducted,” he added in a statement.

Azliha’s daughters Nur Riaisha Zahra Abdullah, two, and Nuralia Karisa Abdullah, 12, died at the same hospital on Thursday (July 11) while receiving treatment.

The three victims were found unconscious by firefighters in a rented room on the third floor of the building.

It was reported earlier that the fire broke out on the third floor at about 1.30pm when all other occupants of the premises were at work. – Bernam
