THE Perak Indian Chamber of Commerce (PICC) has urged the government to do more to increase the community’s participation in the business field, Malaysia Nanban reported.
PICC chairman Ravisankar Balasuramaniam made the remarks during the closing ceremony of the Business Startup Coaching Programme organised in collaboration with the Indian Community Transformation Unit (Mitra).
The six-month-long programme with Mitra provided business start-up training to 15 potential Indian entrepreneurs from the B40 socio-economic category.
The programme’s participants also received allowances during the course and will also receive seed money to start up their own ventures later.
The programme, which was conducted at Wisma PICC in Ipoh, focused on a diverse range of industries and sectors such as fish farming, make-up and hair styling, poultry farming and others.
