Two youth arrested in Gerik for alleged rape


IPOH: Police have arrested two youth for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl in Gerik.

Gerik OCPD Supt Zulkifli Mahmood said the two individuals, aged 18 and 20, were arrested on Monday (July 22) and Tuesday (July 23) respectively.

Supt Zulkifli said the arrests were made after a report was lodged at the Gerik police station on Sunday (July 21) at about 11.10am.

"According to the examination results conducted at the Lenggong health clinic, the victim was confirmed to be pregnant," he said in a statement.

"Both youths will be remanded for seven days," he said.

"The case is being investigated under Section 14(A) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act," he added.
