Unidentified body found floating on Sungai Jerteh

JERTEH: The body of an unidentified man was found floating on Sungai Jerteh near Masjid Hadhari here on Wednesday (July 24) morning.

Besut OCPD Supt Abdul Rozak Muhammad said they received a report on the discovery from an angler at 9.30am.

"Found fully clothed and in a kain pelikat (sarong), the victim is believed to have been dead for more than 24 hours based on the body's bloated condition.

"No identification documents were found and a preliminary investigation did not find any criminal element in the victim’s death,” he said.

The body has been sent to Hospital Besut's forensic unit for a post-mortem and police have classified the case as sudden death, he added. – Bernama
