Syed Saddiq crashes into fallen tree branch in Langkawi


PETALING JAYA: Muar MP, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has sustained injuries after his bicycle crashed into a fallen tree branch during the Ironman Malaysia Championship on Saturday.

According to Sinar Harian, the incident occurred while Syed Saddiq, 31, was participating in the cycling discipline on Saturday (Oct 12). Despite the accident, he continued with the event even though it was raining.

Langkawi Police Chief ACP Shariman Ashari, confirmed the incident involving the MP.

“At this point, it is understood that Syed Saddiq is cycling towards the final checkpoint before proceeding to the next discipline, which is the running event,” he told reporters on Saturday.

This is Syed Saddiq's first time competing in Ironman Malaysia, where participants are required to complete three disciplines: swimming 3.8 kilometres, cycling 180 kilometres, and running 42.2 kilometres.
