Six held over 180km 4WD chase

JOHOR BARU: Six men have been arrested in connection with a car chase spanning 180km from Muar to Kuala Lumpur.

Johor police chief Comm Datuk M. Kumar confirmed that the suspects, aged 25 to 35, were arrested during raids in the Damansara area at about 7am yesterday.

“We’ve also seized two four-wheel drive vehicles, including the Toyota Hilux that was involved in the chase,” Comm Kumar said at a press conference.

Initial investigations suggest the vehicles were rented, with police uncovering equipment typically used for cable theft in one.

“We are still investigating the matter, including identifying the suspect who was driving the four-wheel-drive vehicle,” he said, adding that the suspects are also being investigated for potential links to criminal activities.

On Wednesday, Muar OCPD Asst Comm Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz revealed that police were on the lookout for a Toyota Hilux that had fled after being instructed to stop.

On a separate matter, Comm Kumar said Johor police are on the alert for floods, with 2,467 personnel on standby.

“We have held several meetings with other departments such as the Health Department and Fire and Rescue Department to discuss flood issues,” he said.
