PETALING JAYA: Diversity is Malaysia’s uniqueness and strength, according to Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong (pic).
In his speech at Karnival Suara Semua at a university in Cyberjaya on Tuesday (Dec 1), the MCA president highlighted the importance of preserving unity in Malaysia’s society.
“Thank you for the invitation and congratulations to the organisers for organising this event that brings together Malaysians, especially among the younger generation.
"This is a great programme in fostering unity and harmony," said Dr Wee.
Regarding Malaysia-China relations, Dr Wee noted that the relationship offers more than just economic benefits.
"The exchange of ideas in various fields such as education and cross-cultural interactions also serves as a bridge to strengthen the diplomatic ties between both countries," he said.
Dr Wee also mentioned that 1974 marked an important milestone in Malaysia’s diplomatic history.
"Under the leadership of Tun Abdul Razak, Malaysia became the first Asean country to officially establish diplomatic ties with China," said the Ayer Hitam MP.
