KUALA LUMPUR: Former Goldman Sachs banker Roger Ng is still in police custody, as the investigation involving him is still ongoing, says Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.
“Our investigation is still ongoing as we need more time to collect credible evidence,” said the Inspector-General of Police.
The police still need to collect more documents pertaining to the investigation, he added.
“We need more information as there are many things that we have to analyse.
“It is not just one or two documents... there are many,” he said.
It was reported that Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s lawyer Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah had applied to the court on Monday to interview Ng, who is under police custody.
He said interviewing Ng is a needed first step for Najib’s defence in the ongoing 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) trial.
He said he is also prepared to file a written request if needed.
Meanwhile, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) coffee table book which showcased the history of the police force for more than two centuries was launched yesterday.
Razarudin said it chronicled the police’s role as the keepers of peace that served with full dedication and distinction.
“The book also highlighted the challenges, sacrifices and heroic events faced by the warriors in the police force in defending the nation,” he said in his speech during the launch of the book yesterday.
The book, PDRM: The History of the Establishment, Sacrifice and Success in Preserving Peace in the Country, was launched by Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah.
The book was written by Prof Dr Mohamad Thariq Hameed Sultan and Shafie Abdul Rahman.
Mohamad Tariq said that the challenge to publish the book was more towards collecting all the correct facts.
“However, we had good cooperation and support from the police force.
“It took us about a year to finish the book, which will eventually be the main reading material on the police force.
“The books are free and we are planning to publish between 30,000 and 40,000 copies, which will be distributed to schools and universities,” he said.
Among others who attended were Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz and Bukit Aman top leadership.
