HANOI: Vietnam will increase pork imports to reduce the price for domestic market as the country's pork industry was hit hard by African swine fever (ASF) and Covid-19 outbreaks, daily newspaper Vietnam News quoted the country's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development as saying on Friday (March 13).
Vietnam imported 65,865 tons of meat in the first two months this year from Australia, Brazil, Germany, Russia and the United States, of which pork imports reached 13,816 tons, up 150% against the same period last year, according to the ministry, which added that it has worked with Cambodia, Laos, Russia and the United States on pork imports for the upcoming time.
