WHAT was supposed to be a smooth drive turned almost fatal for several vehicles in Putrajaya where four cars crashed due to slippery roads on Tuesday (Sept 12).
The incident was allegedly caused by an oil spill along the road heading towards Jalan Persiaran Timur in the federal administrative capital. Did this really happen?
VERDICT:
TRUE
According to Putrajaya OCPD Asst Comm A. Asmadi Abdul Aziz, investigations revealed that an unsecured oil barrel fell off a lorry, driven by a 41-year old man from Kuala Pilah in Negri Sembilan towards Kajang, Selangor.
"While passing through the road, an unsecured barrel on the lorry fell off, causing oil to spill on the road.
"The oil spill caused four cars to crash," he said as quoted by Malay daily Sinar Harian on Wednesday (Sept 13).
He said no one was injured but all vehicles involved sustained damage.
ACP Asmadi added the police had recorded statements from all drivers involved.
"The lorry driver has been sued according to Rule 92A LN 170/59 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959," he said.
Police also shared a video on its official Facebook page, showing a motorcycle skidding on the same road due to the oil spill.
