1st LD Writethru: 7 killed in traffic accident in France

PARIS, June 18 (Xinhua) -- Seven people were killed and two others injured in a road accident in France's central department of Eure-et-Loir on Tuesday evening, according to local media Le Parisien reports.

The three-vehicle accident occurred shortly before 7:00 p.m. (1700 GMT) on the departmental road 921.

The first vehicle, carrying five people, collided with another vehicle coming in the opposite direction, in which there was a couple. The first vehicle then collided with a third vehicle, also traveling in the opposite direction.

The five people in the first vehicle and the couple in the second were killed. Two people in the third vehicle were injured and taken to the local hospital.

Traffic was cut off in both directions during rescue operations, local authorities said on X.
