U.S. dollar ticks down


NEW YORK, July 17 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Wednesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, lost 0.5 percent to 103.747 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro increased to 1.0937 U.S. dollars from 1.0896 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound rose to 1.3006 U.S. dollars from 1.2969 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 156.10 Japanese yen, lower than 158.35 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar lost to 0.8836 Swiss francs from 0.8943 Swiss francs, and it climbed to 1.3690 Canadian dollars from 1.3679 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar fell to 10.5467 Swedish kronor from 10.6027 Swedish kronor.
