Olympics | Morocco reach men's soccer last four with convincing win over United States

PARIS, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Morocco breezed into men's soccer semifinals at the Paris Olympics after beating the United States 4-0 on Friday.

Morocco, which registered eight shots on goal against the American side's one throughout the match, went 1-0 up in the 29th minute when forward Soufiane Rahimi converted a penalty he earned after being pulled down by American defender Nathan Harriel inside the box.

In the 63rd minute, midfielder Llias Akhomach made it 2-0 for Morocco after he raced to a pass from Abde Ezzalzouli and poked it past American goalkeeper Patrick Schulte.

Seven minutes later, Schulte was left helpless by a sudden strike from Achraf Hakimi who cut in from the right flank in a fast attack to score.

One minute into the injury time, Morocco were awarded another penalty after VAR intervention. Forward Mehdi Maouhoub made no mistake in putting the ball past Schulte.
