U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar advanced in late trading on Friday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, gained 0.04 percent to 107.003 at 3:00 p.m. (2000 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro rose to 1.0495 U.S. dollars from 1.0473 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was down to 1.2617 dollars from 1.2670 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 153.69 Japanese yen, higher than 152.54 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar increased to 0.8927 Swiss francs from 0.8914 Swiss francs, and it climbed to 1.4233 Canadian dollars from 1.4208 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar fell to 10.9800 Swedish Kronor from 11.0106 Swedish Kronor.
