Army doctors get less pay than medical officers

IT’S a known fact that there is a lack of military doctors currently in our armed forces. As a medical officer in the Malaysian Armed Forces, I would like to share why the current problem is still going on despite us having so many medical graduates.

The main problem is the basic pay. Since 2008, all medical officers under the Health Ministry who finish their compulsory two years’ housemanship will be upgraded to UD44 pay. I agree with this, as it will attract more doctors to stay in government service.
