Stop revealing the street value of seized drugs

I READ with interest the letter headlined “No need for drugs to have monetary and illegal value” (The Star, Sept 30; online at bit.ly/star_value). I totally agree with the writer.

We have long fought the scourge of drugs and we will never win the war as long as there is easy money to be made from them. As a retired senior police officer and having been involved in this battle, I remember that it was in 1983 that the government declared that drugs were the nation’s public enemy No.1 – and they still are today.
