Heavy hearts on Human Rights Day


YESTERDAY, my fellow child rights activists and I ushered in World Human Rights Day with a heavy heart, aware that new laws are being rushed through Parliament that would effectively erode the inroads that we have made in children’s protection and freedom of expression.

The new laws being proposed include a new Online Safety Bill, and various amendments to the Penal Code. Amendments to the Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA) 1998 were passed on Monday.
