JDT enter Malaysia Cup final

PETALING JAYA: Super League champions Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) are the first side to book a spot in the Malaysia Cup final after taking down Sabah 4-1 on aggregate in the semi-finals.

In the second-leg, the Southern Tigers beat the Rhinos 3-1 at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri on Sunday (Nov 20).

In the 36th minute, JDT took the lead through Brazilian striker Bergson Da Silva, and six minutes later, Argentinian striker Fernando Forestieri doubled the lead for the home side.

Sabah reduced the deficit in the 47th minute through Japanese playmaker Taiki Kagayama.

But JDT killed off any hopes of a comeback when substitute Syafiq Ahmad scored a goal in the 93rd minute.

JDT held on to their win and qualified for the final on Nov 26 at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.

They will face either Terengganu or Selangor, who will face off tomorrow in the second-leg.

Sabah were earlier beaten 0-1 in the first-leg at the Likas Stadium in Kota Kinabalu last week.
