PETALING JAYA: Cops are trained to be tough.
And Police will be armed as they brace for one of their toughest weeks of the season – the underdogs have to take on defending Super League and FA Cup champions Johor Darul Tazim (JDT) twice in seven days.
The Cops face the Southern Tigers in the FA Cup third round at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri today.
Five days later, they collide again in the Super League at the Petaling Jaya Stadium on April 19.
Many football fans are already speculating on social media over how many goals the high-scoring JDT will put past the minnows.
But a highly motivated Police side are hopeful of making life difficult for their illustrious opponents.
Coach Azzmi Aziz has done a pretty decent job with a side that’s operating on a shoestring budget.
He has told his charges to keep the game tight against a side who are clearly a ‘’different class’’.
“JDT have won nine straight Super League matches, enough said. We will enter this match as clearly the underdogs. But I want the boys to show that they can produce a big performance in a game like this,’’ said Azzmi.
“I’ve told the boys not to show too much respect for JDT to the point of being intimidated.”
On having to face JDT twice in one week, Azzmi said the outcome of the FA Cup game will likely determine how the Super League tie will go.
“We must play well in the first match as a bad performance will only make it tougher for us in the second.
“We have to be aggressive from the get-go and defensively, we have to be more solid.”
