Amirah sweeps second karate gold after fruitful switch

Don’t mess with them: Sabah’s women’s kumite team of Leong Jia Chii, Amirah Syahirah Azlan, Pressy Philip and Michel Linus posing with their gold medals.

NATIONAL karate exponent Amirah Syahirah Azlan wanted to strengthen her body and try something new when she decided to switch to muay thai at the last Malaysia Games (Sukma) in 2018 Perak.

Even though she managed to win a bronze that time, the Sabahan decided to switch back to her pet sport in the current edition and it paid off big time when she captured her second gold in the women’s team kumite yesterday.
