Asia e University celebrates 13th convocation

RENOWNED institution, Asia e University (AeU) recently celebrated its 13th convocation ceremony at the prestigious World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur.

A total of 1,742 students from diverse regions across the globe gathered to commemorate this significant milestone in their academic journeys.

This year’s graduates included 25 Doctoral degrees, 66 Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), 846 Master’s degrees, 425 Bachelor’s degrees, 63 Graduate diplomas, and 317 Executive Programme graduates from the School of Professional and Executive Education (SPEED).

With over 1,000 international students graduating this year, AeU continues to expand its global footprint, providing quality education to students from all corners of the world.

This convocation highlights the university’s commitment to offering accessible, world-class educational opportunities across borders, further reinforcing its status as a truly global institution.

The university honoured its top graduates with prestigious accolades, including the Chancellor’s Award, Chairman’s Award, President’s Award, and Mahani Zainal Abidin Award.

AeU also celebrated 10 graduates who completed their postgraduate and doctoral studies through the APEL.Q pathway, a testament to the university's dedication to

lifelong learning.

Through the APEL.Q (Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning for Qualifications) pathway, AeU continues to provide invaluable opportunities for working professionals with extensive experience to translate their practical knowledge into formal academic qualifications.

This pathway empowers individuals to validate their expertise and earn recognised qualifications without following traditional academic routes.

Among the graduates were Tengku Baderul Zaman, a prominent figure in Malaysia’s a prominent figure in Malaysia’s oil and gas sector.

He shared, "APEL.Q Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) provided me with a unique perspective on how learning outcomes can be aligned with life experience, especially through my work in leading and coordinating corporate and strategic plans, as well as my contributions to society."

Another notable graduate was Deputy Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Fuziah Salleh who remarked that despite her demanding work schedule, she was able to achieve a long-held ambition to obtain a doctorate through the APEL.Q pathway.

This year, AeU has expanded its APEL.Q offerings, providing even more opportunities for professionals to gain formal recognition.

Programmes such as the Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology (Hons) (BICT), Master in Information and Communication Technology Management (MICTM), and Master of Education (MEd) have been approved by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) for implementation, further enhancing the scope of opportunities available.

AeU’s chancellor, Tan Sri Dr Syed Hamid Albar, stated, “As a forward-thinking institution, Asia e University embraces the ever-evolving educational landscape. At AeU, AI is used to enhance research, personalise learning, and increase administrative efficiencies.”

AeU’s vice chancellor, Emeritus Prof. Tan Sri Dr Nik Mustapha Raja Abdullah, added, “As a lifelong member of the AeU family, we are here to support your learning needs. Whether through micro-credentials, executive education, or degree programmes, AeU will help you stay relevant and up-to-date in an ever-changing world."

Since its establishment in 2007, Asia e University has built a network of around 30,000 alumni from 80 countries worldwide.

AeU’s director and founder president Prof Datuk Ansary Ahmed, who is also a Unesco Institute for Information Technology in Education governing board member and a Global Smart Education and Smart Benchmarking Consortium founder member, said AeU is a university dedicated to lifelong learning.

“We have become the university of choice for working adults seeking to advance their education.

“AeU now offers full-time conventional programmes to international students, further underscoring its commitment to reaching a global audience," he added.
