LG has announced the release of its new flagship smartphone in January, the V40 ThinQ.
The latest from LG follows many of the latest smartphone trends, adding a triple-camera layout on the back that combines a 12 megapixel telephoto zoom lens, a 16 MP super wide-angle lens and a standard 12MP camera.
The cameras will also have a triple-shot function, which means all three cameras take the same picture and offer you the choice of three different formats. Or, alternatively, you can choose to have the device construct a short video clip out of the three images.
On the front, there are two selfie cameras, which can create the blurry background effect (Bokeh), among others.
The V40 Thinq has almost no bezels around the 6.4in OLED display with its QHD+ resolution (3120 x 1440). It is also very thin at 7.7mm, and weighs only 169g.
The device has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and 6GB of memory (RAM). It also comes with either 64GB or 128GB of storage, which can be extended up to 2TB with a memory card.
The V40 ThinQ will be released at the end of January, an unusual time to release a new device, since most manufacturers aim to release products that can be bought as Christmas presents.
It will not run the latest Android 9 operating system, and will initially just feature the older Android 8.1, which is also not the norm for new phones. Prices have not yet been confirmed, but are expected to be between US$700 (RM2,920) and US$900 (RM3,754) in the United States. – dpa
